It has been shown that every hundred parts of fresh plum fruits contain about 85% water, 0.7% protein, 0.2% fat, 12.9% carbohydrates, 350 international units of vitamin A, 0.15 mg of vitamin B (thiamine), 0.03 mg of vitamin B (riboflavin), 0.6 mg of vitamin B (niacin), 5. mg of vitamin C, and mineral salts, the most important of which are calcium 17 mg, phosphorus 20 mg, iron 0.5 mg, in addition to tannin acid quercetin, tannin amygdalin, and oil with a resinous gum substance. Thus, plums are considered a useful food for children and athletes, because they purify and nourish the blood and quench thirst.

Therapeutic properties

The plum peel contains a substance that reduces fever, and is therefore useful for diets, while the fruit pulp strengthens the nerve tissues, purifies the blood, and is a natural laxative for the stomach and intestines. It is very useful for cases of diarrhea in children, while a decoction of the leaves as a warm drink on an empty stomach in the morning helps kill intestinal worms.

Digestive disorders, jaundice, hemorrhoids, nephritis, hardening of the arteries, rheumatism, gout, weakness and general fatigue.
